UNEP Head Chair Introduction

My name is Kohsei Yashiro, and I’ll be your head chair. I am a second-year student at Cal studying environmental economics and policy. I’ve been very concerned about both the overfishing of the bluefin tuna and the potential impacts natural disasters have on the country. I do realize that some countries may consume fish a lot more than others however, with natural resources around the world being more accessible, I hope to imbue a sense of urgency in all member nations. At the end of the conference, I hope delegates can realize that we must combat environmental issues as a collective group as they will influence you regardless of your background. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy playing soccer, karate, and video games. I am excited to meet everyone and I hope this will be a learning experience for everyone.
